Today is praise and worship Sunday

hosted by my sweet daughter-in-love, Brittany.

Today I chose the song, Holy written and performed by Nicole Nordeman.

Sometimes it is so good to just go back to the basics of our relationship with God.

We priase Him because He is holy!

How many roads did I travel

before I walked down the one that led me to You?

How many dreams did unravel

Before I believed in a hope that was true?

How long? How far?

What was meant to fulfill only emptied me still

And all You ever wanted...

Only me on my knees singing holy, holy

Somehow all that matters now is You are holy, holy

Holy, holy

How many deaths did I die

Before I was awakened to new life again?

How many half-truths did i bear witness to,

til the proof was disproved in the end?

How long? How far?

What was meant to illuminate, shadowed me still

And all you ever wanted......

Only me on my knees singing holy, holy

Somehow all that matters now is You are holy, holy
And all I have is gratitude to offer You.

Holy, holy

Somehow all that matters now is that You are holy

You are holy, holy

Somehow all that matters now is that You are holy, holy

only me on my knees singing holy, holy

Somehow all that matters now is You are holy, holy

Holy, holy, holy

I hope that you have a beautiful day!

May God richly bless you today!

Happy Birthday to my son and my father!

Today is my son Cameron's 23rd birthday! Happy birthday son! I love you so very much! You have been such a wonderful joy in my life. I am so proud of you in every way! You are such a strong man of God and you are a very hard worker. You have compassion for people. You are so intelligent! You are such a hard worker! You are so funny! You are the whole package! I hope that you will have the best year you have ever had this year! I praise the Lord every day for bringing you into my life!!!!

We will have a fun dinner party for Cameron tonight, he is requesting chipped beef on toast, canned corn and fruit cocktail for his dinner and he request a Yule log for his cake! Of all things, a Yule log! So that's what I'll be making today!

Today is also another very important person's birthday! It is my Dad's 80th birthday! Happy birthday Daddy! I can't believe you're 80 today! I hope that you have a very wonderful day. I am so blessed to have a father like you! You have been so good to me. Thank you for all you have done for me. You worked so hard my whole life to provide a beautiful home for our whole family and all of our basic needs. You gave us a very magical wonderful life and I am so thankful! Thank you for passing on the legacy of the Lord to me too. Not only did you take me to church and read me the Bible, but you LIVED your life for Christ and I witnessed it every day! You are such a special man and I love you so much!

We will be having a big huge 80th birthday party for my father at the end of June. We had to postpone this due to my sister and her family being on vacation.

Above is a picture of the birthday boys together in 1987, it was Cameron's first birthday and his Grandpa's 58th birthday. What a special birthday gift we gave my father when Cameron was born on his birthday! Cameron has always thought that he was special because he was born on Grandpa's birthday!

I hope that all of you have a fabulous weekend! I will be sharing the rest of our camping trip pictures on Monday.

Memorial Day Camping!

As you know, our whole family went camping over the Memorial Day weekend. This was so exciting and fun for us because we had not been camping for two years!!! We went to a beautiful lake in Eastern Oregon called Crescent Lake. It is such a beautiful, peaceful place. I took way too many pictures, so this will be part one of two posts about our trip. I wanted to first start by showing you our little home away from home! This is the inside of our camper. We have had it for 12 years and it has been a wonderful investment. I love my cozy little (and I mean little) kitchen!
We have everything we need, it is just all on a really small scale!
When we first got the camper the boys were so young and we all actually slept in here! Eric and I slept up in the bed that is above the truck cab. There is a little nook on my side of the bed, so we put a little cushion there and Hayden slept up by us. We took out the table and set it in the shower in the bathroom and the table bench seat opens up into a little bed that held both Cameron and Grayson. The cabinets above the table fold out into a bunk bed, which Mackenzie slept in. We were all so cozy and comfy!
I was so thankful and excited about the blessing of this camper. Before we got the camper we always camped in a tent. I remember several camp trips where I had to change diapers and make warm bottles in the middle of the night in a tent! I have paid my dues and I am so grateful to have a camper! I found this darling "God Bless Our Camper" plate at Goodwill. Isn't it perfect! I couldn't believe it when I found it. I have it sitting next to a vintage set of turquoise salt and pepper shakers.
I also have an assortment of vintage camping books in the camper.
Aren't they cute! I especially love the "Good morning, Lord" devotional book for campers.
It is really fun to look through these old camping and traveling books from the 50s.
Okay now that we have done the grand tour, it's time to show you pictures of our actual camping trip! Here's Cameron and his friend Jef playing a card game. You can see our Dog Bailey next to them and Grayson is in the background setting up his tent. Isn't this a pretty camp site? The lake is just on the other side of those trees!
Here's Grayson doing a very traditional camping activity - whittling.
Hayden's starting a whittling project too. It looks like he has a big job ahead of him!
Look at the beautiful sunset! This lake is so awe-inspiring gorgeous!
Sitting around the campfire is the best time of camping!
Such great memories are made around the fire!
The next morning I had some alone time with the Lord. This is one of my favorite things to do! I had my chair, my books and my coffee! With this beautiful scenery, that's all I needed to feel blissful!
Do you like my bird's egg blue vintage mug? This is day two and my hair is still holding up, but I'm not so sure for how long!
Cute Cameron holding cute Bailey!
Eric cooking up our dinner. Tonight on the menu we have bbq pork steak and SUPER FRESH Kokanee (landlocked Salmon)! Yes, we ate fresh fish that Eric, Cameron and Jef had caught just minutes before!
It was so delicious!
What a scrumptious meal! Pork steak, Kokanee, rice and of course beans!
They're all heading for seconds!
Time to do the dishes!
What's a camp trip without smores???? Yummy!
This is how I prefer my marshmallows........... just a tiny bit of delicious roasted brown goodness......mmmm perfection!
However, there are folks out there who prefer them to look like this!!!
Time for breakfast. I finally remembered to get out my darling blue and white checked tablecloth that my dear sister, Kathi, made me. Isn't it so cute! It has pictures of picnic food all over it and I absolutely love it. Notice the vintage turquoise plastic dishware and the cute Smokey the Bear coffee mug! My theme colors in the camper are turquoise and red with touches of yellow.
On Sunday morning Eric's parents, Jim and Alice, came up to camp. Here they are standing with Cameron. They are so cute and sweet. Alice brought up donuts and a beautiful pasta salad. I felt bad though because right after this picture was taken Alice started to not feel good. She has been having a very hard time with her health lately and her balance was off. Can I ask you to please pray for her? This illness has really hit her hard and is getting her down. I am so happy that they were able to come up and spend time with us while we were camping.
Cameron and Jef had to leave because Jef had to work Sunday afternoon and Cameron had to work Monday. So, we waved goodbye to them.
Alice laid down for a nap and the men went fishing. I stayed at camp and peeled potatoes for my potato salad. It's day three and I've resorted to wearing a hat. I guess I better try and wash my hair if I'm going to be here one more day! Tune in tomorrow to see the rest of our camping adventures! What a blessing it is to spend time with family out in God's beautiful nature!

At laaaast............

At last! I finally own a cherry red old fashioned kitchen step stool!!!!
I've been wanting one of these for many years! I don't know why I never just bought one at the store, I guess because I never had an extra $70.00 laying around. Yep, they have them on line and at most stores like Wal-Mart and Target for about $70.00.
I was thrilled to find mine at a yard sale during our town's city-wide garage sale for only $10.00!!!! They had it marked $15.00 and I asked if they would accept $10.00 and they did!
I think the reason why I am so fond of these old fashioned step stools is because my grandmother Margaret had one. I am not sure, but I am thinking that hers was yellow. I know that she had the yellow 50s dining table and matching chairs that are the same type of style, so I could be mixing this up, but I really remember her having a step stool like this.
Isn't she a beauty! And, she's useful too!
I am going to snug her right in this little nook, I think it looks great here and very handy for the next time I need to reach up on that top shelf in my kitchen! I am so thankful for my new cherry red old fashioned kitchen step stool! I'll be sharing some of my other treasures I found at the city-wide garage sale soon.

P.S. My hubby's spider bite is looking so much better. It is still very painful, but much improved! I am so thankful to the Lord for helping him! Thank you for your prayers!

One last lunch and a senior prank.....

Throughout my kid's high school life I have occasionally picked them up from school and taken them out for lunch. Last week was the last time that I would be picking up Grayson for lunch at the high school, as he is graduating. I remember picking up Mackenzie and Cameron for lunch too when they were in high school. This time Hayden and Rachelle came along with us. We ate at this really cute little restaurant we have in town. We had burgers and onion rings. It was really tasty and really fun.
The night before this little luncheon Grayson and three of his buddies had a little adventure. They went out at 10:30 at night and snuck up on top of the high school gymnasium. They were doing a senior prank. At our high school senior pranks are a tradition. It's where a group of seniors get together and do something funny to the school like TP, filling the courtyard full of water, sticking plastic forks in the grass in front of the school, camping on the school property, etc...
Grayson and his buddies snuck on top of the roof and hung this huge wooden sign. It's actually two 3'x5' boards that they painted Class of 2009 on. They ever so cleverly hung the boards at the highest point of the school where all the students would see it. When he came home at 1:30 in the morning, he came in and told Eric and I that it was so much fun. He said that they had to be really sneaky and quiet because the janitor was there. He said that he had so much fun with his buddies.
I was a little nervous about him getting in trouble the next day at school, so I told him to just lay low until you hear the reaction of the principal and the teachers. He later told us that the principal and teachers were really cool about it and said the actually loved it. They said they immediately knew that it had to have been done by Grayson and Garrett because who else could be so engineering with the design of the whole thing! I was really happy that they were not in trouble! He actually got lots of compliments! The principal said that he thought it was funny and was so glad that they did not do any permanent damage to the school and that it was a good clean prank! It was good timeing for me to pick them up for lunch on this day because I got to see their sign!
Well, I just dropped them off so they can go back to class. Hayden must have taken right off, because I didn't get him in the picture, but here's Gray and Rachelle heading back to class. I am trying to soak in all of these moments as they will not be coming around again. It is all good though, Grayson has had a phenomenal year and he has so much ahead of him!

I am off today and will be catching up laundry from our camp trip and cleaning my house. I need to run some errands and hopefully will be working in the yard later today. I announced to the kids that we are having a sit down family dinner tonight because lately it seems like we are all running in different directions. I will be cheating and serving a frozen lasagna dinner. I think I'll make homemade rolls to go with it though.

Please say a pray for my husband because he was bitten by a brown recluse spider on our camp trip. The wound got to the size of a medium apple and was bright red. The skin was slightly swollen with a hard knot in the center the size of a marble. Yesterday I was able to get him an appointment with the doctor that I work with. He put him on antibiotics and said it will probably get worse for a week before it starts getting better. There are scary pictures on the Internet of brown recluse spider bites. The venom kills the tissues at the site of the bite and can be pretty dangerous. I am thankful that he got on the antibiotics on day three, so I am hoping that there will be minimal skin damage for him. I appreciate your prayers.

Have a great Wednesday!

"The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade on your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all evil; He will keep your life. The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore." Psalm 121:5-8

Touched by an angel.......

I found this beautiful angel at St. Vincent De Paul's last week. Isn't she fabulous! She is made of resin but looks like she is carved out of wood.
My sister, Kelli, introduced me to these angels. She has a beautiful one that she displays in her living room. She told me a friend gave it to her and they are really collectible.
I was thrilled when I found this one at St. Vinney's and it was only 3.99! I looked on the Internet and they originally sell for about $28.00!
Mine is called "Angel of Faithfulness". I love her and I love her title!
I like it that she has a chicken and a basket of eggs. I also love her colors, they go well in my house. I think I will display her somewhere in my family room. She looks like she's a piece of antique folk art. I really, really like her! I feel kind of bad though because when I first bought her I was going to give her to my sister, but then I had second thoughts and am keeping her for myself! Am I horrible???? I hope not! Sorry Kelli, I'll make it up to you!!!!

We had a great time camping and will be sharing our adventures later this week. I hope that you had a great Memorial Day weekend and hope you have a beautiful week!

"For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways." Psalm 91:11

Camp Wasabi!

As you are reading this, we are probably heading home from our camping trip to Crescent Lake. I am showing you pictures from our camp trip to the exact same lake two years ago. This was one of those magical times that you realize will probably never repeat itself again. We took our camper and our family and each of our sons invited a good friend. We called it Camp Wasabi!
Hayden invited Matt. Look how little Hayden was! He has grown so much in the past two years!
Mackenzie brought Brittany. She slept in the back of his 4-Runner and he slept in the guys tent.
Grayson brought Garrett, who for some silly reason is bending down to look shorter than Grayson!
Cameron actually brought three friends, from left to right, Desi, Keith and Lisa. Cameron is on the end.
Eric and I brought each other!
Camping is so much fun! There are so many adventures! Grayson caught this adorable squirrel!
Isn't he cute! We let him go after a few minutes.
We always play cards or some kind of game.
And we sit around the fire and talk and laugh a lot!
We went down to the lake and played. I love this picture of Mackenzie and Brittany.
Here's a handsome shot of Cameron.
They were trying to be models in a GAP commercial!
They look pretty good to me!
Then we had the piggy back races!
We lost Hayden and Matt early on.
Then we lost Mackenzie and Brittany!
Me and Cameron are the winners! Whoot-wooo!!! I love this picture, it's the Thrill of Victory and the Agony of Defeat!. You can see Cameron and I in the back basking in the victory and Mackenzie is checking out his knee. Meanwhile, Brittany is just cracking up!
Who's the best Piggy Back team now????!!!!!
Time for a swim! Well, it was a short swim, that water is just a little too cold!
The time around the campfire at night is the best!
We all sit around after dinner and make smores and talk, it is so fun!
On this trip Grayson and Garrett made a mini barge and set it afire.
We all took a walk in the dark down to the lake and watched it float away. It was really special to watch. Don't worry, we made sure it all got picked up, we didn't pollute!
Kenzie and Brittany enjoying themselves!
Hayden with his torch that he made.
Did I mention our family likes fire? We have a little pyro in us! Here's Eric making a huge bonfire!
Such good times! That's our old dog, Sadie, that Grayson's holding. She always used to come camping with us. This will be Bailey's first camping trip! I bet she'll love it!
Lisa and Desi in their tent. We were trying to make it look like the Parent Trap!
Cameron and Keith chill'n out.
Everyone chill'n out!
What great memories we have at Camp Wasabi! Oh, I didn't tell you why we called it Camp Wasabi. I brought up a ton of dried Wasabi peas and everybody loved them and were eating them constantly. Then we started having Wasabi pea eating contests to see how many a person could eat at once with out burning their mouths to death! For some reason we started saying Camp Wasabi and it stuck. I am not sure if we will name this year's camp anything special, but I sure hope we have a great time! I'll let you know in a few days!

I hope you are having a great Memorial Day today! A special thank you to all the men and women who have served our country and sacrificed so much! May God richly bless all of them and their families!
