Basketball Fever!

This post is about my two son's basketball seasons for the 2008-2009 season. Here's Grayson, #14, after a big win. He is a senior this year and played on the boys varsity team.
Here's Hayden, #3. He is a freshman and played on the boy's junior varsity 2 team.
We had such a great time watching both of our son's playing basketball.
They both really enjoyed it and are pretty good players.
Grayson was the #7 guy, so he never did start. We were happy that he got a lot of playing time though. He is really aggressive and really quick. He is a great defensive player. He doesn't shoot very much though, but he did get about 20 baskets throughout the season.
Hayden started most of his games. He is a lot like Grayson where he is really fast and really aggressive.
This is what Eric and I did twice a week every week for 15 weeks.
We went to at least 4 games a week, but many times it was 5 or 6 games.
This is what we ate for dinner several times a week! Our school Booster club sells grilled cheese sandwiches for only $1.00 a piece!
We always traveled and went to the away games as well.
Sometimes we drove two hours to get to a game!
Many of our family members came to support the boys. Here's our son and his wife, Mackenzie and Brittany.
Here's the boy's Grandma Alice and me.
Grandpa Jim and Eric cheering on the boys.
Here's Grayson's girlfriend, Rachelle watching Grayson play.
Speaking of Rachelle, she plays too!
She was on the girl's JV team and she always "swung" up to the varsity team. She's really good.
I love the whole basketball experience. Here's the beginning of a game as we are singing the Star Spangled Banner.
More family fans.....the boy's cousin, Whitney, Aunt Kelli, Grandpa Leonard and Grandpa Jim. Eric is sitting behind them.

It is sad for me knowing that basketball is over and we will never be watching him play again.

Hayden......you're busted! We have proof here that you're not watching the game!

The two grandpa's leaving the gym. I thought this was such a cute picture.

Here's a picture of me with the other mom's. We have all really gotten close as we have been watching our boys play sports for many, many years!

Here's the coach talking to the players during a time out.

Grayson and his coach, Stan. Stan is a wonderful coach who really inspires the boys on and off the court.

but I tell them to not let that be their only dream."

~ Kareem Abdul-Jabbar The whole team after a big important win that put them in the playoffs. Unfortunately, the lost the next game and were done. They played many non-league games, but they ended up 7-7 in league. The JV team ended up 6-3 in league.
Rachelle showing her school spirit!
At the last home game they honor all the senior boys. The parents bring their son's balloons and candy and the boys give their mother's a rose.
It was really emotional for me to realize this was the last time he would be playing in that gym.

It's the end of the season and the end of his basketball career at the high school. I'm glad that he had a great season and ended it on a personal best game. We are happy that we still have three more years to watch Hayden play.
