Bannana bread........

What do you do with three over ripe bananas?
The answer is easy, you make banana bread! I know that most of you out there know how to make banana bread, but I thought I would share with you how I do it.
I am really bummed because for years I used my great grandmother's recipe, but somehow I lost it and I have been hunting for a similar one since. The recipe above is from the high school Booster club's recipe book and it is very similar to my grandmothers. It is a very plain recipe but it is sweet.
You just peel the bananas (obviously!) and then....
....you mush them up with a fork.
Then you add butter, sugar, eggs, flour and soda. The recipe calls for nutmeats, but I don't care for nuts in my bread, so I omitted them.
You pour the batter into a greased bread pan. Oh, oh, don't look now, but my Pyrex dish has some baked on stains around the edges.
Bake for about 45 minutes at 350 degrees. Check the center with a knife and it's ready when the knife comes out clean. I like mine a tad bit gooey.
Mmmmm! It's all done!
Oh, what a lovely afternoon treat!
I smoothed on a little butter...............
Oh, it is so nice and moist!
Would you like to come over for some coffee and a piece of homemade banana bread?

"I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world." John 6:51

Hugs, Sharon

YUM...that pan has baked on love. I had a freezer full of dead bananas...like 40 some bananas..it was crazy so I kind of went crazy baking up a ton of banana bread to send to my husband's office...that's where all baked goods go now days. I just found a new recipe that calls for sour cream and a couple teaspoons of lemon juice. WOW...it is really good. Plus I have to add mini chocolate chips for the loaves going to our girls. Oh man that slice with butter on it keeps staring at me. I better go eat some breakfast. Hope you have a grand day.

Mmm! I love banana bread and yours looks divine!

I have to be careful when I make banana bread b/c my hubby doesn't like it--so that means I end up eating the whole thing! (extra butter included!)

My recipe is a little different than yours, so I'm excited to try your way next time!
Thanks for sharing =)

Yummy- it looks good- I'll be right on over ;) Can I bring anything? ha
This is similar to my recipe- I like to wrap my banana bread in foil and freeze it- ( I sometimes make a double batch and use the mini bread pans- of course we have to have some right from the oven too!) but after it has been frozen -after I thaw it- it has a great glaze on it and is so yummy)Thanks for sharing your recipe. I love your tablecloth!

Have a great day Sharon!

I'm up for it! Put on the coffee pot...LOL!

When I make mine I usually sprinkle a little bit of cinnamon sugar on top before I bake it. I don't have any bananas ready, but I will by the end of the week, I think! YUM!!

Enjoy...

That looks so good. And if you notice, I only ever take pictures of the finished cakes and stuff on a plate on my blog, thats because I too suffer from SBWS. Don't worry now it is not contagious. And what may you ask is SBWS............
Stained Bake Wear Syndrome I figure that just means I spend more time actually baking then scrubbing or throwing things out cause they are stained. ; ) Sometimes SBWS just happens no matter how hard you try to avoid it, I know I used to try. It did no good, LOL. I think I need to go make some banana bread,

Hugs

Looks delicious!!

I add a little sour cream or yogurt to mine to make it extra moist! Have you tried that? It really makes a difference, in my opinion! Also, adding chocolate chips makes it into a great dessert!

Hope your day went well today! I'll see you tomorrow afternoon!

Love you!
