Thank you for your ideas!

Last week I told you about my decorating dilemma (click here to get more details) about my little landing at the top of our stairway. I had a vase full of silk flowers that sat there for probably 14 years.
I was tired of it and ready for a change. I asked all of you out there in Blogland for your advice and to give me ideas on what I should put there.
I got lots of great new ideas from you and I incorporated a few of them into what I ended up with. I put a basket full of dried hydrangeas there next to that big neat birdhouse my neighbor gave me and added a little ceramic bunny.
I think it looks great and fits in perfectly with the rest of the house decor. It's the romantic country cottage look.
Here's the view from the top looking down.
I really like how it looks. The birdhouse cleaned up really nicely, I found out it didn't have a bottom to it, so it was empty!
Thank you everyone for sharing such great ideas and giving me inspiration. I am still really busy with planning the shower and getting my home ready. One of my blogging friends, Ruth Hull Chatlien, said "spiral notebook time, huh?" and she was so right! You should see my to do list and my grocery list! I am having a Victorian tea party theme and I can't wait to use all my neat antique crystal and dishes. I want Brittany and all my guests to feel totally pampered and special.

Wishing all of you out there a great Friday!!!

Fondly, Sharon

Oooh, I thought you should put that old birdhouse there, but I wasn't sure if you'd want something that rustic. I love that you combined it with a few other pretty things. It's a great balance.

Isn't it great how God provided what you needed for that spot?

Love the new look on your landing...I've always been a big hydrangea fan.

I can't wait to see and hear all about the shower on Sunday. I know you will make it so special for Brittney and her friends and family. She is such a lucky girl to be joining your family and especially for gaining you as a MIL!

I knew that they were engaged but didn't realize a wedding date had been set...when is the big day?

Hi Sharon... I agree with the other ladies... your new design is so pretty! You just can't go wrong with hydrangea's + bunnies + bird houses, can you?! Also, I liked the change you made on the landing wall... that vertical framed picture really adds to the clean lines and aids in pulling the eyes upward to see things!

A Victorian Tea Party sounds wonderful and I am sure you'll do an amazing job pulling it off. Looking forward to seeing photos of it all... how FUN!!

Hope your weekend is awesome... I'm off to read more and catch up! God bless...

Hi Sharon! The birdhouse looks great up there. It was meant to be!

Your house will be brimming with fun on Sunday! It'll be so beautiful, I'm sure! :o) Wish I lived next door...I'd run you over a few loaves of Zuchinni bread that I just made this afternoon! Yum!

Enjoy the shower dear, sweet, soon-to-be MIL!! :o)

Hugs,
Mardell

PS: LOVE the barstools! The design on the backs are really pretty!

I love it Sharon. It looks waem and welcoming.

Looks good. I am glad you brought the birdhouse in doors. The weathered look is great but if it were to stay outside too long it might just rot away :)
Love the bar stools too!

Hi Sharon!
It looks fabulous! Perfect touch for that spot!
Have fun with your Victorian Tea Party Shower! If the bride-to-be is a lover of collections or vintage things you could have each guest bring their own cup & saucer to the tea party and then they gift it to the bride-to-be. Instant cup and saucer collection with very special meaning! Just a thought!
Hugs, Sherry
