Today is our 26th wedding anniversary!

Twenty-six years ago today we said, "I do" and all these years later we still say "I do". It is so hard to believe that we have been married for 26 years, that just seems impossible. It has gone by so quickly. I can honestly say that MOST of the time it has been all good, but there have been those moments that it has not been all pleasant. I am so thankful to the Lord for being the center of our relationship and getting us through those tough times. God has blessed us so much in our marriage with our four beautiful sons and so many years of laughing, working, playing, crying and just living life.
Here's Eric with his mother and father, Jim and Alice. A beautiful lady between two handsome men! Here's me with my parents, Leonard and Shirley. I do feel loved!
Eric waiting for me to walk down the isle. It looks like Alice was just sitting down.
Here comes the bride, all dressed in white!
My Daddy giving me away to Eric.
We had the wedding in my parents backyard. It turned out really pretty.
Mr. and Mrs. Happily Married! :0)
The whole wedding party. From the left, Eric's sister, Stacey, my sister Kathi, my sister, Kelli, my best friend, Michelle, me, Eric, Eric's best friend, Brett, his friend, Skip, our soon to be brother-in-law, Stacey (he married Kathi) and my brother, Wade.
The young bride. I was about a month away from turning 21. That seems pretty young to me now, but back then I thought I was so mature!
Here we are today, 26 years later, still in love! I am so thankful for my wonderful husband and our strong, happy marriage. God has truly blessed us!

Good morning! I missed you!

Good morning ladies!

I have been so, so busy lately. We have been having so much fun, but I do miss you and I miss blogging. I am hoping to catch up this week. It will take me a bit to get all my pictures organized so I can show you what we have been up to. The kids went to camp and are back, Cameron got home safely from his trip, our company came on Friday and left yesterday, we have done a lot of projects around the house I want to tell you about, I had a couple of shopping trips with fun treasures that I found and want to share with you, we had our family reunion, my husband's class reunion and just some general fun summer pictures. I will try to get my pictures and posts all organized and ready to share with you in the next few days.

Just for fun, I wanted to share this fun little test that I found on
Julieann's blog. I got 104 points, which means I am a superior 1930s housewife! I am so proud! Because my children are grown I answered a couple of the questions based on what I did as a housewife/mother when they were smaller. You should try the test, click here to take it.

As a 1930s wife, I am

Our guests have arrived!

We are so busy right now and we are having such fun! We have company staying with us until Tuesday and I am going to take a little blogging break and hang out with the family and enjoy our visitors.
I think it is really fun to entertain and have people visit. I do get a bit stressed trying to plan it all, but once my company arrives, I can relax and really enjoy all of it! I just love it!
We had so much fun at our class reunion last night. I'll share more about it later.

Oh, and I have big news! My son Cameron is home from his 6 week trip! He actually has two more weeks, but it will be really close to this area. He had such an amazing time! I picked him up at his house today and brought him back here because his truck is here. He stayed for several hours and visited with us. I am so proud of him and I am so thankful that God protected him on his trip! A big thank you to those of you out there who said a prayer for him! I really appreciate you!

Have a great week!

We're the mighty, We're the great! We're the class of 78!

Tonight we are going to my hubby's 30th class reunion! Can you even imagine???? Where did the time go? Here is a picture of the yearbook from 1977-1978. They have a picture of a tractor on the front because they remodeled the school that year.
Here is my then boyfriend Eric's senior picture (and now he's my husband). Isn't he a super fox! For you younger girls out there, that was what the girls called cute boys back then....a super fox! Hee hee!
Here is my junior year yearbook photo, I was a year younger than Eric. I am from the class of '79.....we're the mighty, we're the fine, we're the class of '79!
My sister Kathi was in the same class as my husband, so she will be there tonight as well! That makes it extra fun for us! This is her senior picture.
Above is a picture of my husband's best friend, Mike. Him and his wife, Rhochelle, are staying with us tonight through Tuesday and we will go to the reunion with them. Again, that makes it extra fun!
I found some extra pictures from the yearbook. Above is a picture of Eric during a football game. He is #64. We hadn't met yet, so I never watched him play football, which really makes me sad because he was really good and he loved it.
Here's a picture of him for the Letterman's Club can you spot him? He is on the left on the top row.
Kathi was the prom queen! Isn't she so cute! She was very well liked and nice to everybody!
Here's a funny picture of me. I was doing some kind of a game for Campus Life. I think I had to help this guy (Ron) walk an obstacle course and because he was blindfolded, I directed him by pulling his ears. Crazy!

Wish us luck tonight! I hope all of you have great weekends!

Taking the kids to camp today!

Today I am driving Grayson and Hayden up to church camp. My good friend, Virginia and her son are going up with us plus two other kids. This picture is from last year when I picked up Hayden from the same camp. This year both Grayson and Hayden are going to senior high camp. I am so excited to see what the Lord has in store for them at camp this year! Every year they come home so on fire for God and they learn so much. They always have such a ball and meet new friends, but the exciting part is when we have our one on one talks and they tell me what they learned about God! I am sure going to miss them though!
On the way home Virginia and I are stopping here!!!!
And I will be doing this!!!! Virginia has never seen this Goodwill (click here to read more about it). It is a junky one, but they weigh everything and charge you by the pound, so you can get things really cheap!

I hope you have a great day!

Fun hostess idea and a new quest!

Good morning everyone! I hope that all of you are having great summers so far! It is already half over! Isn't that crazy! It has gone so fast. I want to enjoy and savor each moment of it.

Today I wanted to show you these really cool Eiffel Tower bottles that my sister, Kathi, gave me. Last weekend when I gave the bridal shower for Brittany, Kathi and her daughter Jessica gave these to me as a hostess gift! She told me she found them at a thrift store and she thought they would be neat decorations if I had a French themed dinner like how I have my Italian night and Mexican night (click to see pictures).

I love this idea and I think I will have fun with it, but I need some help! Do any of you out there have some good ideas for me? I found a Country French cookbook the other day at Goodwill, but I still need some good menu ideas. I also would like ideas on how to decorate. I am thinking about painting the bottles gold so they look like vintage souvenirs. Kathi learned that they are blue, white and red because those are the colors in their flag, but I think I will put one at each table and I like the idea of painting them gold. Perhaps I can find some neat vintage postcards or picture books of Paris. I think this will be a fun quest and I welcome any and all ideas! I need help with things like what type of dishes, what kind of tablecloths, what types of other table decorations, what type of music etc.

Thank you dear sister for the cute idea and wonderful hostess gift. I am so blessed with a friend like you! I love you!

I hope all of you out there in blogland have great days. I am so behind on my visits with you, but I am trying. It seems like lately I wake up and hit the ground running. I think after this weekend with our kids going to camp, my hubby and I attending his 30th high school reunion and having his best friend and wife staying here for four days I will be able to really relax a bit.

Special lunch at the vineyard

As you know, last weekend I gave a bridal shower for my soon to be daughter-in-law, Brittany. Her mother, Patti, lives in South Dakota and she came to town to visit Brittany and to go to her showers. Last Monday Brittany, Patti and I all went out for a very special lunch! We drove and drove out to the country and went to a beautiful winery. The scenery was fantastic and we had such a great time visiting on the long drive! I feel so blessed to be able to have such a great time with Brittany and Patti. We all get along so great. God has truly answered my prayers.
The scenery is just breathtaking. I have never been to a winery before and it was absolutely fabulous!
This place is like something you would see in a movie, it is so pretty! The vineyards go on for miles! You can see the winery up on the hill.
Here is the view from where we parked. Isn't it gorgeous!
Here's a view of the back of the winery.
First we went to the wine tasting area. I have never done this before. It was really fun and very educational! We had such a great time!
This place is so beautiful!
We ate lunch out on the deck overlooking the beautiful valley with all the acres of vineyards.
I forgot to take pictures of all our food, but did get a shot of the desserts. This is Crème brûlée, and yes, it was as good as it looks!
Brittany ordered this wonderful chocolate dessert, look how they draped the chocolate over it to make the beautiful design! We felt very pampered when we were there!
We had such a beautiful lunch and talked for hours. I feel so blessed to say that old saying, I am not losing a son, I am gaining a daughter, and I am also gaining a friend with Brittany's mother Patti!

A very special breakfast date!

The other morning Hayden woke up late. During the summer, we let our kids sleep in, first of all because it is summer, secondly because we know that they are growing and require good sleep and thirdly because these lazy days are short and one day they join the real world and have to get jobs and wake up early. This is what his brother, Grayson, has been doing all summer, getting up at 5:30 to get to work. Anyway, Hayden came down to the family room still all sleepy and was just being quiet, trying to wake up all the way. I was busy in my bedroom cleaning out my clothes closet (which was no small chore by the way! I actually tried on every single thing and threw out two big black garbage bags full of clothes!).

After we said our good mornings, I said, "Hey sweetie, when you are ready to eat and you fix your breakfast, please call me and I will sit out on the deck with you while you eat so we can visit. I just want to sit and visit with you a bit." He said okay. About a half an hour later I hear, "Mom, I'm ready." I go into the kitchen and look out the window and see this.
I think he is just so cute! He fixed himself a healthy breakfast and is just sitting out there patiently for me.
He was playing with the dog and checking his phone patiently waiting. What a sweetheart of a son that I have!
I tapped on the window and said "I'll be right there honey." I grabbed a cup of coffee and sat out there with him.
We had a nice little visit together enjoying our sunny backyard and watching our funny dog.
I guess I wanted to share this with you because over the years people have asked me what I have done to raise such good boys. I don't know if Eric and I did anything super special besides, of course, PRAY, PRAY, PRAY, over them and ask God for his wisdom and guidance as parent. But I do think it is small things like this that I have consistently done their whole lives. I say, lets talk, I want to hear what you have to say, I care about you, I want to be with you. Even if they act like they don't want to or you think they don't care, I know that these types of things really matter in their lives and lets them know how much you care and value them. This is a great time to weave the things of the Lord into the conversation too!

It does not have to be hard or time consuming. Look at this example, I didn't even make his breakfast, I just had to show up! Of course there are awesome conversations that come up doing daily things like driving, eating at the table, doing dishes, etc.. I think what makes them feel special is making an appointment or a date with them. By doing this you are saying, I want special alone time with you.

It goes both ways too, when they say "Mom, come here and look at this" or "Mom, come here and watch me do this." I always try my hardest to go to them because that is another small way to show big love.

I really hope that you have a great weekend! I am going to take a blogging break over the weekend, so I will talk with you on Monday!

"Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labour on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to Me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare." Isaiah 55:2

God bless you!

Summer at the Lake!

Why is this lady smiling?
Here's a clue, isn't it beautiful!
Yep, that's right, we took the boat out to the lake for a little picnic, swimming and inner-tubing.
We forgot Bailey's leash, so Hayden had to hold onto her while Eric and Grayson put the boat in.
Here's Grayson helping his father get the boat in.
Picnic lunch is all packed!
What a handsome Captain!
I thought this was such a beautiful picture of Bailey. She is 9 months old now and this is just her second trip in the boat. She's a little nervous, but she also is having fun!
We stopped in the middle of the lake and anchored up for swimming and a little dinner.
Sweet picture! Sweet move Hayden!
Nice Grayson!
Having such fun!
What great memories are being made!
We are so thrilled that Bailey enjoys swimming. Our old dog, Sadie, hated the water, so this is a real treat for us!
I snapped this picture right when Eric took a bite......sorry honey!
I love to soak it all in. I love the bright colors, all the natural beauty around with the trees and the water, the smell of the water, the faint smell of gas from the motor, the feel of the warm sun on my skin and the faint summer breeze, the sounds of kids splashing and laughing and the sound of the motor. It is all so wonderful! I also know how fleeting these moments are with my kids growing so fast, it was a little sad for me to remember that it used to be all four of the boys and now it's just two, but I didn't get too down. I am really trying to have the attitude that this is all the beginning of something new!
Grayson just got his boating license and he got his first lesson driving the big boat. He did really well! He's a happy guy!
Time for tubing! Above is Grayson, he is quite the daredevil and always has been.
Now it's Hayden's turn.......yippee!!!
Who's that out there now? Let's get a closer look..................
It's Grayson and Bailey! Bailey loved it!

No, I did not get in the water and neither did Eric. We were talking about that we feel old because we don't want to get in anymore. It does bum me out that I am not the same as I was even just two years ago, but that's okay. Maybe next time I will get in!

Have a great day!
