Homemade Rolls

The other day I was having such a good day off. I got my house all cleaned up and did all the things I wanted to do and then decided to make bread in my bread machine. I turned on my pretty music and lit a candle and got to work.

I use the dinner roll recipe that is in the booklet that came with my bread maker.

It is so simple, you just place all the ingredients in the metal bucket that comes with it and then place it in the bread machine.
Simply turn it on to the right setting and walk away.

About 60 minutes later the dough is done.
It is in a ball in the bottom of the bucket.
You then flour it just enough to handle it and then divide it into 12 balls.
Place the balls on a cookie sheet and space them out evenly.
Cover the rolls with a tea town and place in a warm spot to rise.
I like to turn on my oven to the warm setting while I am shaping the dough and then I turn it off and I place the pan in there to let them rise. This way they are tucked out of the way and they are in a warm spot.
Oh, yum, they look like they have risen.
Aren't they pretty!
You simply bake them at 375 for 15 minutes.
I think my yeast was a little old, so they didn't get as big as usual, but they still look good and taste wonderful!
Top with a little butter and homemade strawberry jam and whala, you have a nice little snack.
When I first got my bread machine about 8 years ago I made bread and rolls at least once a week, but slowly I stopped doing it. So now when I get a chance I love to do it and I always feel so domestic when I make homemade rolls. I know I am cheating a little by using a bread machine instead of making the dough by hand, but it still makes me feel like a good housewife!

"Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst." John 6:35

Blessings, Sharon

Good morning Sharon,
I love my bread machine! My first one I had for over 10 years. Just bought another one (at Salv. Army) & it was brand new for $5! I use it at least once a week. I mostly use it for rolls. You want to talk about cheating? I buy the Pillsbury "Hot Roll" mix & pop that in the machine. All pre-measured! :o) Talk about convenient! Then I plop the rolls on my Pampered Chef stone & they rise & bake beautifully. Then I brush them with melted butter while they're still warm. Mmmm!

Have a great Wednesday!
Hugs,
Mardell

OOOH I bet your house smelled so good while they were baking. They looked so good but what wouln't look good on a Jadite plate. We all use a little help for our homemade cooking. It doesn't mean less love was put into it, it just means you didn't want to spend your life in the kitchen. Have a great day.

Well. I sold my bread machine at a yard sale a few years back because we never used it. Now I wish I had it still! LOL! I guess I'll have to be on the lookout for another one at a garage sale! : ) The rolls looked delicious!

I love the smell of homemade bread baking, its my favorite!
I love baking bread/rolls but dont do it that often even though I really should because we all love it. I usually bake by hand because I dont have a machine...I should get one though! I think I will look online for one right now and see if it shows one in stock in my fav local stores.

I was born and raised in Newfoundland, Canada ( Imagine Ireland as thats what its like there) and when we'd bake bread, once it was cooled enough to cut, we'd butter a slice and add molasses on it! Isnt that different! But its soo good :)

hugs to you. hope you have a lovely day.

Sharon, Those look so good. Your house always looks so cozy. I'm going to really work at making mine more cozy. Your rolls look as good as Kelli's and that's saying a lot because I think she bakes every other day. I love you, Kathi PS I go to the doctor today for just general stuff, but I am going to find out about this cold and about my arthritic finger. She(my doctor) always tells me it's a visit from "Arthur." Not funny. It hurts.

Those rolls look delicious! My family would gobble them up in no time. I've never made homemade bread or rolls but now I seriously will be on the lookout for a bread machine. Like I've said before, I need to start going to the goodwill...I think I'll go today!

oh I would guess that your home smelled so good.....I have not used my machine in quite sometime....I don't think using a machine is cheating in any sense....Emilie Barnes calls our appliances our *Servant Girls* and I agree, I sure would not want to be doing my laundry by hand this morning...no thank you...
yikes...no blow dryer...
Thank your Lord for new inventions that make our life easier and give us more time.

It must be baking day - because this is the second one I've seen, too, of homemade rolls - and it really looks yummy. I have a B machine also - but don't use it too often, as my DH has turned out to be allergic to wheat. Guess I should find some recipes with oat flour or something????
Have a great day.

Sharon,

There's nothing wrong with using a bread machine. I would love to have one. It's been years since I've made bread. Imagine having to make it by hand every day or two. My grandmother made it several times a week and she made such wonderful clover leaf rolls.

Thanks for sharing. Your rolls look delicious, as does your homemade strawberry jam. Is it freezer jam? I used to make it every year when my daughter was at home, but hubby is allergic to strawberries and I can't eat the jam anymore because of my diabetes, so now daughter makes it instead.

Blessings,
Mary

Thanks for stopping by! I've really enjoyed your bread machine rolls, oh if I could only EAT one now! They look so good!!
Love your yard sale finds. I can't imagine a city wide garage sale, how fun is that?
Please come back, I'll be stopping by regularly. You have a beautiful family!

My machine sits right out on my counter, I usually do it all by hand but why not use my machine right!!!!????? Would you beleive at one point I felt less *Godly* if I did not do it by hand.....?
I think I read that on a blog some time back..... talk about guilt when I even thought about using my machine, lol!!
I am using it tomorrow and make some dough for some rolls!

thanks Sharon!
