Show and Tell - Valentine Swag

Show and Tell

Today I would like to share my valentine swag that I made.

It is made out of fabric strips tied to jute string. If you recall, I showed one that I made for the kitchen and one that I made for fall. If you go to my archives and look up 9/21/07 you can see the kitchen swag and if you go to 10/3/07 you can see my fall swag (my linky thing isn't working :0( ...... sorry!). I also have a 4thof July swag you'll be seeing this summer. I bought several types of red and white valentine looking fabrics and cut them into 1-1/2 x 7 inch strips.
I then tied them all onto the jute string in a random pattern. Prior to making the swag I had collected a bunch of fun heart shaped, valentine related or red things that I thought would be cute hanging on the swag. I simply tied them on. If there was no place to tie a ribbon or string onto the item I simply hot glued a string to the back of it.

This is such a fun project and you can do it for any holiday or occasion. I do not have an Easter swag and I think it would be so cute with fun spring fabrics and cute eggs, chicks and bunnies hanging on it.
This is my favorite item on the swag. It is a darling little heart man made of felt by my son Grayson. In 3rd grade he learned how to sew at school, they had them do stitch work on a pillow case. He ended up really enjoying it and started stitching things at home. It was so cute because he would make sleeping bags and tents for his GI Joes. One day he made this sweet little heart for me. Isn't it so cute! He surprised me with it and I just love it. He didn't have a pattern or copy anything, he had the idea himself and made it! I will treasure it always!

Thanks for stopping by my show and tell! Have a great weekend!

I can see why the heart is your favorite! What a clever idea! I don't have the eye to just simply come up with an idea like that! However...I think I could do this for Easter when my 5 year old Grand-daughter comes over to spend the weekend! Great idea!

Thanks for the sweet words. Sharon as I was growing up mom did cakes from our home. she never had a class. I loved sitting and watching her.I guess I can give her the credit. A great mom and a very talented family she came from. She just came up with the bikini one day. She baked a cake and used a saucer to cut the curves. I think this might have been a cake she did for me as I was growing up and people went nuts over it. Young girls every where had to have one.
