Grayson's First Truck!

Grayson just accomplished a big milestone in a person's life.........he bought his first vehicle! He is so excited about it! He has been working at the gas station for a year now and saving his money and he paid cash for it with his own money!

It is a 1986 Toyota pick-up. He is so proud and feels like he really accomplished something. I think he has! Eric and I both are very proud of him too!!

He brought it home a few days before and Eric, Grayson and Grayson's friend Garrett checked out the engine. It seemed to be working really well. Eric then took it to our mechanic who gave it the A-OK and then he got brand new tires put on it.

This is one thing I really love about my husband and really appreciate. He teaches our boys how to do "guy" stuff and teaches them to be men. It also warms my heart that he cares so much and he wants our kids to have safe and realiable vehicles. Eric helped Grayson take care of all of the details with buying the truck. He even took Grayson down to the insurance man to get it insured. All I did was take these pictures!
Grayson is so happy and so am I, I just wish it was a little bigger, this mom is a little worried about him in such a small vehicle, but I know that God is watching over him. Also, Grayson is a very good driver. I'm really proud of him.

"My son, keep your father's commands and do not forsake your mother's teaching. Bind them upon your heart forever; fasten them around your neck. When you walk, they will guide you; when you sleep, they will watch over you; when you awake, they will speak to you. For these commands are a lamp, this teaching is a light, and the corrections of discipline are the way to life." Proverbs 6:20-23

Have a great weekend!

Way to go Grayson! He's off to a great start!

I love the Roberta Flack song in the background as I'm reading about Grayson and his truck. This is priceless.

I'm so happy for Grayson and so proud of him too. He has worked very hard for a long time for this. It's a great looking truck.

Thank you so much for the award Sharon. I love it.

We've been up late and up early feeding baby lambs. I'll post about it later. Happy Saturday. Love, Kathi

I remember getting my first vehicle. It is a great milestone in Grayson's life and something he will remember always. He will also remember the love and support of a wonderful father who cared enough to teach him about the "guy" stuff in life.

Tell Grayson I'm proud of him for earning and saving the money to buy his truck. That's a great life lesson in itself.

How wonderful! Now relax and try not to worry! You have raised him to be trustworthy now give him a chance to prove it to you!

I LOVE this....first for the fact that he bought it with his own money. That is just how I felt with my kids when they were still home..."If you want something - work for it and buy it with YOUR money" gives them a sense of responsibility and worth, not to mention they take pride in the ownership knowing just that ---that they earned it through work and diligence. HIGH 5 Grayson!!!

And Sharon, I love the Proverbs at the very end. So well written and that you added it makes the whole world seem worthy.

Hi Sharon,
I love Roberta and I hope that I didn't say anything that was offensive. I LOVE your blog and always make it one of my first stops. I felt really silly when I saw the gorgeous photos of your husband and you. OOPS. I felt soooooo embarrassed! Grayson's new truck is great. You must really be so proud of him. What a nice family you have.

I'm proud this week too. My nephew (refers to me as the Mother he should have had) has always wanted to be a comedian. He did his first set at a local comedy club this past week. He was very funny. People laughed a lot. Now he is more determined than ever.

What an awesome first truck. Did you tell him no mattresses off the back? LOL. (Sorry, I couldn't resist)The paint looks great and its a goodf color.

We made our children buy their own vehicles too and they were very proud of themselves when they were able to afford one. They will take better care of something they've invested so much of themselves into.

Congratulations Grayson!

Oh, one more thing, that was a very well placed verse. Perhaps you should print it our for him to put on his visor. :) Ok, I'll stop now.

Oh Sharon! This is wonderful and so exciting, his first car! And to have worked hard and saved for it himself is a fantastic life achievement! May God bless and keep him safe! You and Eric have done such a wonderful job raising your boys, and now all of your hard work is showing the sweet fruits of your labour. Congratulations to you all sweetie!

Very Fun! What a great lesson learned too many miss. Earn the money then buy.

I am so happy for Grayson. I think it is great that he worked and saved up the money to buy it himself. So many parents just go out and finance new cars for their kids and never teach them about saving.(I did that with Billys first car and it ended up going back)(Bad mom I am) I think Billy and Wes are going to use their tax money to get a car. It is hard for them to get to work now. Also, Wes got a call back yesterday on a better job so I am excited about this possibility for him.
