Show and Tell - Vintage Paper Napkins

Show and Tell

Today is Show and Tell Friday at Kelli's Blog, just click on the photo above to see her beautiful blog and check out all the other bloggers participating.

Today I would like to share my vintage paper napkin collection.

I found this box full of AMAZING old paper napkins at a yard sale. I believe a little girl probably faithfully and carefully collected them and somehow they were saved over all these years.

They all are in great shape and represent most of the special occasions that we all celebrate!

There are New Year's napkins.

There are Valentines napkins. I really like the one on the left with the silhouettes of the boy and girl looking at each other.

There are napkins from Thanksgiving, just look at all the details! I think they are just beautiful!

There are wonderful napkins from Halloween. Look at those awesome vintage graphics and colors!

There are some of my favorite, the ones for bridal and baby showers! I think they are so cute and such works of art!

This is a wedding napkin from 1958! Look how happy that couple looks! I wonder if the real bride and groom, Karen and Don, are still married??? I would like to hope so!

Here is one for the baby shower! Look at those darling fat babies!

The one above is from some kind of country restaurant! A little bit of American history!

This one is one of my favorites. I just love the colors and the red and white gingham. It is just so all American!

There also is a handful of paper coasters. I remember seeing coasters like this in many different restaurants that my Daddy took me to! They bring back really good memories!

This little girl had an impressive collection!I have owned this collection for about four years and I have no idea why I even have it other than it just pleases me when I open that box every so often and take a peek. They just cheer me up. I guess they also bring back memories from my childhood of going to wedding and baby showers with my mother. I remember saving the napkins too, but I never had such a collection and I got rid of mine somewhere along the line.

I hope you enjoyed my Show and Tell today. Have a wonderful Friday and a great weekend!

Blessings ~ Sharon

You know, the best things to have are the ones that you have just because they make you happy and for no other reason. I imagine that is why that little girl kept them so lovingly well preserved for so long.
Beautiful collection!

Wow! What an awesome discovery! I love beautiful paper napkins, even the modern ones. They would look nice displayed under glass somehow, like in a frame or a glass display table. Very nice!

Those napkins are so cute. Thanks for sharing them. I love the one where the pretty girl is receiving a wedding shower and has raindrops all over it.

I don't have a show and tell today, but I will for next week.

Have a great day. Love, Kathi

Sharon,

These are truly a treasure. You were so lucky to find them. I also remember going with Mom to baby and wedding showers and seeing this type of napkin. I never collected them though. I also remember the coasters. Thanks for the walk down Memory Lane. I can see where these would bring you a lot of pleasure. Thanks so much for sharing.

Blessings,
Mary

what a fun collection! You wonder about the person who collected them and why they finally gave them up.

In the old days when restaurants would place a paper placemat under your dinner - my uncle and sister had quite a collection of them. My sister's ended up on the basement walls and eventually thrown away. But a lot of them were fun and interesting and it would be neat to see them now.

What an amazing collection, and what a neat way for someone to look back through the years. It's kind of sad that no one in her family kept it, but I am glad someone has it who appreciates it.

Sharon, I'm a newie to you! Your box of napkins gets my vote as the most unusual collection I've seen in a year of blogging! What a wonderful delight, the pictures and the thought of the care and time it took to save them and the memories that person had is remarkable! I love it! Gosh, I could never part with that box and would do as you do and look at them every so often! Thank you so much for sharing today i really loved it!!! Come visit, Lori

Sharon, I just saw the box that your paper napkin collection was in. I have that same box! It originally contained stationery on which I wrote to my husband when he was in the service away from home. I just thought it was something that you also had the same box! :)

Dearest Sharon,
I have found your site about surfing in www and what a surprise: so so wonderful old paper napkins - a little treasure or no - a big treasure. Let me that so say, because I am a paper napkin collector. My specials are old german napkins.
I am 47 years old, also four children out of home and live with a lovely man in Germany and it is good to see that anotherone also like vintage napkins and save them.
Wish you and your family all the best and hope you can understand all.
Best wishes Gabriele
