Show and Tell - Jadite Salt and Pepper set

Show and Tell

Kelli at There is No Place Like Home is having Show and Tell Friday at her blog. It is really fun, you should go check out her blog.

Today I would like to show my vintage Jadite salt and pepper shakers. These are so special to me and one of my most treasured possessions. I found them at Goodwill and practically dove for them. They were marked 5.99 for the set! I was so excited.

I have always loved Jadite, I think because it reminds me of my grandmother Ethel. She had one square green Jadite pepper and a blue round ribbed salt shaker. I always admired them, but I did not get them when she passed away. I was thrilled to find this set and to see them everyday on my stove top to remind me of her. I have a book all about Jadite and the book price is $90.00! I doubt anyone would pay that much today, especially because it is not as popular as it once was and because Martha Stewart made reproduction Jadite and marketed it. It does not matter to me what they are worth, I just really love them!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Blessings! ~ Sharon

Sweetie, I've been dying to hear how the Dr Phill show went? Were you happy with it? We won't get to see that episode for about a year, we're pretty far behind here, so I won't see it for myself for ages! lol Love your show and tell too!

G'day Sharon.

Hmmmmphf! I've been dropping by now and then to see if you posted about the Dr. Phil Show and the days I did remember to come by to see when it was going to be aired on TV, nothing. But, I see yesterday it was on? Sure. Go figure :::giggles::: The day I didn't drop by was the day it aired!!

I love jadite too---I only have one reproduction cup and saucer. But get this!!!! I too had an Aunt Ethel who had Jadite when I was growing up and that is why I love it toooooo!!!! She lived on a dairy farm and her husband had the cows, milked them, packaged and delivered the milk. They lived in a big old 2 story house with big porch and had a nice old farm kitchen with Jadite!! They also had a house right on the beach in Connecticut on long island sound---the plates there were different--floral ones---can't rem there name--but I loved those tooool

Oh yes Sharon, they really look wonderful! I adore anything vintage! What a pity that you could not get the shakers of your Grandmother but however, it's great that these two ones always remind you of her!

Have a great week-end!

I just love those s&p shakers...if I saw those green ones, I would have also been reminded of my grandma!

Also...I missed seeing Dr. Phil but last week I emailed my mom, who watches it daily, to tell her that I had a blogging friend who's boys would be on it and she headed over to read your blog. She told me yesterday that she thought- overall- the boys were shown in a positive light so I was relieved.
What did you all think?
