Hayden's Christmas Band Concert

Last night we went to Hayden's middle school Winter Concert. He plays the drums in advanced band and is the jazz band. He did really, really well! Eric and I were so proud of him! He is the third one in our family to play drums; my husband is a drummer, his brother Mackenzie is a drummer and now Hayden. There was a funny moment for Hayden though, right at the end of the song he dropped one of his drumsticks. He picked it up so fast, it was pretty amazing! Then he started laughing. We knew immediately why......when Eric was playing drums at church he had dropped a drumstick or two, when we have seen Mackenzie perform, he has dropped a drumstick or two, and now Hayden, so it is kind of like a tradition for our men and I think for Hayden it kind of meant that he had arrived as a true drummer! :0)

I was so pleasantly surprised that when the choir sang, four out of the eight songs were songs about Jesus and his birth! At the end they sang silent night and had the audience join in and even had the words printed on the handout! I love being in this small town! I was so shocked and pleased that at Christmastime we actually got to hear some CHRISTmas music in a public school! I think most everyone felt the same way because there was lots of cheering afterwards.

Here is the last verse of Silent Night:

Silent night, holy night
Son of God, love's pure light
Radiant beams from Thy holy face
With the dawn of redeeming grace
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth

What a beautiful song!
