Our First Fire of the Season!

Yesterday the kids didn't have school because of Veterans Day. It was just the boys and I at home because Eric had to work. It was a very, very windy and rainy day, perfect for a cozy fire! So, Hayden made a fire in the fireplace - our first one of the season! I made clam chowder and we had our lunch by the fire as we played cards. It was a fun time. We love to do this. I have good memories of playing games with all my boys by the fire. I am proud of Hayden for making the fire all by himself. Grayson couldn't join us because he was at basketball practice. Later when Grayson came home all three of us went to see Jerry Seinfeld's Bee Movie. It was a pretty cute movie, we enjoyed it, but I would not say it is one of my favorites, I personally thought Bug's Life was cuter and more funny. Any way, we had a nice day off and are ready to get back to the grindstone today!

Blessings to all of you!

Looks so cozy--we have had some cool 30 degree nights even here in SC. I had noticed the forcast for the Wa area was rainy and very windy on Monday. As I have told you , my oldest son lives in Redmond so I sometimes check the weather for that area. I do not think I would like all the darkness and rain. You need to tell us when the sun sets and rises out there. I know Oregan and WA are not the same ;-) but I suppose the weather is similar?

What a wonderful photo Sharon. I'm glad you had some time together to enjoy your Son's fire and some lunch. As far as your previous post...I am in awe that you have a Hubby that makes applesauce!!!

What a nice day! I love cozy times by the fire -- it's neat that you have that little brick "bump out" so you can sit right there by the fire!

Ok, if this comment appears twice it's because the first time I attempted to comment there was no "word verification" to verify...

Anyhoo - I was saying that I love your fireplace and that it makes the perfect card table!! Glad to hear that you got to enjoy some quality time yesterday which is one of the reasons the veterans fought!

Love,
Julie

Oh Sharon! Everything looks and sounds just so lovely, so cozy, so happy. I would love to have grown up in a home like yours. Treasure it, like I know you do.

Hi Sharon!
Your post makes me want to build a fire and curl up with a good book, but I would be sweating since the temperature here in Georgia today was 70 degrees. The good news is there is a cold front on the way. Hooray!
Love, Velvia

Love that fire. I've always wanted to be able to sit in front of a nice fire during the winter months. Dad built one in our living room when I was young. It was great. Hubby and I plan to have a natural gas stove installed for next winter. Here's hoping.

In Ontario, the kids go to school on Remembrance Day. The only ones who get a holiday is government officials and the post office.

Thanks for sharing.
