Show and Tell - Perfume bottle

Kelli at There's No Place Like Home, has a show and tell every Friday. Here is mine for today!

This is an old, old perfume bottle that my grandmother Margaret gave to me. I absolutely love this bottle! In fact, when I was a little girl I would look in the curio cabinet at her house where she kept it and I would covet it! One day when I was about 11 she saw me looking at it and I told her how much I liked it and to my surprise she gave it to me! I have treasured it ever since!

It still has a faint smell of a pretty perfume. It is a cut crystal bottle with two ruby glass hearts dangling from a gold chain attached to the ruby and intricate gold lid. It is really amazing that the dropper is still attached and not broken because it is made of glass and has not broken all these years.

It is just exquisite and I am thrilled to own it. It is especially valuable to me because it was a personal gift from my grandmother. I keep it on display and admire it often.

If any of you have seen one of these before or know anything about it, I would love to know more, especially what brand of perfume it was.

~ Sharon

How wonderful that your Grandma gave this to you while she was still living. It's so much more meaningful than dividing up things after a loved one is gone.
It's truly a beautiful little bottle and in such great condition!!

I used to have fancy perfume dispensers. When I was a little girl I loved them. But to tell the truth, I have no idea what has happened to them over the years.

Sad too. I had droppers, sprayers (with the fancy bulb), dabbers. Shucks!

What a special treasure you have there! It could have been empty when she bought it and she added her special perfume into it. You could ask some older relatives or friends if they recognize the scent.

It's beautiful!

Sharon, your perfume bottle is so special, and beautiful. It was very insightful of your grandma to give you such a precious gift when you were so young - what a memory she made. And she must have known that you would take very good care of it. I love the thought of a Victorian woman putting her perfume on and it sitting on her dressing table, and then so many years later it sits on display in your home. That's what is so great about antiques. If only they could talk and reveal all they've seen. Thank you for showing us such a fun gift from your grandma. Thank you also for the visits to my blog. I so appreciate it.
